Finding Stillness, A Saving Challenge & My First YouTube Video!

This month, I explored how small moments of presence can shift everything, why embracing choice matters, and how a simple saving challenge changed my perspective. Plus, my first YouTube video is live!

Hey friends 👋

February has been a whirlwind!

Between coaching, writing and building new things, I’ve been reflecting a lot on how easy it is to get caught up in the noise—the endless to-dos, bad news and the feeling that there’s always more to do. But sometimes, a small moment of presence is enough to shift everything.

That theme has been on my mind this month, and it’s shaped the things I’ve been creating:

🎥 YouTube Video: 3 Productivity Myths Keeping You Stuck
I finally published my first video! If you've ever felt like you're working hard but not making progress, this one's for you.

✍️ New Blog Post: The Hidden Cost of Context Switching
Exploring how frequent task-switching silently drains your productivity, focus and energy more than you might realise. This post delves into the unseen toll of interruptions and offers practical strategies to minimise them.

Learnings, Reflections and Tips

Everything is Fine (Even When It’s Not)

Do you ever feel like the world is falling apart?

Wars are raging. Climate change is accelerating. AI is reshaping industries. Layoffs are everywhere. And just when you think things can’t get worse—somehow, they do.

I know that feeling. I’ve been there. And when you’re in it, it’s hard to see anything else. It’s like the weight of the world presses down, making it impossible to notice the good.

But then, last week, on my usual afternoon walk, something happened.
After days of grey skies, the sun finally broke through and warmth hit my face. The light softened everything around me. And just for a moment, the world felt… still.
No worries. No problems. Just presence.

That moment reminded me of something simple yet profound:
We don’t always notice the good because we’re drowning in noise. But it’s still there.

Choosing optimism isn’t about ignoring reality. It’s about making space for what’s still beautiful. And sometimes, all it takes is a moment of stillness to remember that.

You Always Have a Choice

It’s February and that means: Valentine’s Day.

I used to hate it. The overpriced flowers, the forced romance, the commercialised nonsense—it never resonated with me. Why would you need a special day to celebrate love?

But at some point, I realised something:
I don’t have to buy into all of that and can still enjoy the day.

Now, my wife and I have a small tradition. We book a candlelight dinner at our favourite restaurant, arrive early and take the whole evening just for us. No stress, no expectations—just time together. We talk, we laugh, and sometimes, we just sit in silence, watching other couples around us.

The lesson? You always have a choice.
Whether it’s Valentine’s Day or any other situation, you don’t have to buy into what doesn’t serve you—but you also don’t have to reject it entirely.
Take what serves you. Leave the rest. Make it yours.

A Month Without Unnecessary Spending

I love monthly challenges and this month, my wife and I challenged ourselves to only buy essentials. No impulse purchases, no unnecessary spending.

And you know what? It was surprisingly easy.
We still ate well, still enjoyed life and somehow saved a wobbling 1.200€ compared to our usual monthly spending.

It was a great reminder that most of the things we think we need are just habits. And often, those habits don’t add much to our lives. Maybe we’ll keep this going for a while.

👉 Have you ever done a monthly challenge? If so, I'd love to hear about it! Just hit 'Reply' and share it.

Monthly Favourites

🎶 Song: Sylvan Esso - Rooftop Dancing
Rediscovered them through a live session and fell in love with this playful track.

📚 Book: Rebecca Yarros - Onyx Storm (The Empyrean #3)
Still enjoying this series, though I slightly preferred the first book. If you love YA fantasy, it’s worth checking out.

🥗 Recipe: Creamy Beet Soup
Was part of the Valentine’s menu this year. Fell in love and had to recreate it at home!

📽️ Video: Why you'll never "get on top of everything"
A great reminder by best-selling author Oliver Burkeman that perfectionism is a trap, deep work has limits, and you don’t need to do everything to be valuable.

Book Club

This quarter, we’re reading Viktor Frankl’s classic: Man’s Search for Meaning.

We’ll be discussing insights on April 1st. If you want to join, we’d love to have you! Join my Discord and check out the #book-club channel.

Community Question

What would you do if money were no object?

This question, famously posed by Alan Watts, is one I often ask my coaching clients. It’s not just about dreams—it reveals what energises you, what excites you and what might be your real purpose.

If you’re up for sharing, just hit 'Reply'. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for checking in—see you next month!

PS: Since this is my very first YouTube video, any feedback is highly appreciated. I'm still in the process of getting comfortable with filming myself 😁

Best,
Robin
