Hitting the End of February
We open on Risa staring wearily out a darkened window
Hello hey hi there
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm... well, I'm me.
I'm not going to mention the family stuff right now, as Buttondown has some killer SEO and I want to keep some things private.
But in the meanwhile, aside from everything else, there are so many things I'm trying to write right now. I have to write a poem for a fundraiser, a section of a collaborative short story, a story for a weird horror call I'm particularly interested in, and some edits to my novella along with four different documents for work.
...And my brain has slammed on the brakes so hard that I threw my arm out to protect whatever was in the passenger seat.
Seriously, I've written snippets of things, but nothing I want to use. It's like taking a zillion selfies trying to get something you can use for a professional headshot, but all of them somehow reveal something incredibly weird about your face.
(no, this isn't based on a real example, no... :shifty-eyes:)
I know I'll get past this. This happened last year as well. It's just frustrating when I'm in the middle of it.
Enough Angsting - Any Writing News?
I haven't published anything new recently, but I do want to remind people that nominations for various genre awards are still open for those who are members. Nebulas close end of day 2/29, Hugos close in ten days. After that, nominations are tallied and members get the opportunity to vote on the finalists!
I also got a nice comment about Shelter of Ghosts over on BlueSky, and it reminds me that short stories have a long tail in terms of discovery. I have to stop being shy about promoting stuff.
Sounds Good. Where's Our Puppy?
Right! Kizu is veerrrry Stretchy:
With love and weirdness,
