A Short Bit This Month
Boppa-da-boppa-da-bop
Is it okay if this is brief? There’s a story submission window I want to get in on before I’m queue position 1000 (IYKYK) and I have quite a bit of editing to do. I’d push this newsletter, but I’m already late.
Okay fine, what’s up?
First, some writing news! My story Slivers is out at Inner Worlds and I’ve been surprised at the generous response! This was originally published in 2021 in the anthology 99 Tiny Terrors, along with luminaries like Seanan McGuire, and it’s lovely to see it gain some new life and receive some sweet kudos from folks I don’t know.
Also, in case you missed it last month, my story Build Your Own Heart was released at Translunar Travelers Lounge and has also received some nice feedback.
Second, it’s freaking spring now, and I always have to take a moment to breathe and huff some flowers and generally be present. Daffodils and forsythia and hyacinths and magnolia trees have decided it’s frenzy time, which means I’m going to be taking about ten gazillion photos. Even my front-door lilac is trying to get in on it. So be warned for a bloomscroll next newsletter.
As a side note? I keep seeing new daffodils pop up and since I’m a Stardew Valley player, each new patch makes my brain fizz with a neon sign that reads STOP GRAB GIFTS FOR FRIENDS. I don’t pick them, of course, but sometimes the abruptness of the urge makes me laugh.
And that’s all I’ve got this month! (Aside from, you know… :gestures at world: )
Wait! You can’t leave without…
Oh yes! Here’s a puppy.

With love and weirdness,
~Risa
