Abstracted

Sometimes watercolor doodles become their own thing

rinsemiddlebliss rinsemiddlebliss

Hi friends,

Sometimes watercolor doodles become their own thing. I hope you enjoy looking at these as much as I enjoyed painting them.

I'm including the full post in the email. If you prefer, you can read Abstracted on my blog instead.

By the way, if you think there's someone who would enjoy my blog, please feel free to forward them the newsletter or share the blog post link. Although it might occassionally go into hibernation, my blog is not a secret. Knowing people read it is my reward and motivates me to keep posting.

Thanks for reading and see you on the internet!

Abstracted

I've been playing around with mark making. Mark making is a fancy term for doodling with expensive materials. Sometimes I just want to put shapes on the paper and see what happens. It's relaxing and it lets me try out new paints and brushes and techniques without the pressure of messing up a planned painting. It's also easier to do when I feel rather abstracted myself.

All of these pieces are watercolor paint on paper.

Pastel color swirls on a paper coaster

Red, gray, and black swirls on a paper coaster

Angular forms dappled in their own colors

A watercolor painting of angular blue, green, and brown forms, all quite angular

An orange and silver seascape

A watercolor painting of an abstract sea scene, mostly orange, with sort of octopus things
