Good Morning. Hello. How are you? #1687
Hello sorry I am late.

Good morning, friend. It is 11:30 AM. I SLEPT SO LONG. Last night, as we were going to bed, Emma mentioned that she would be getting up with me and Jane to do Jane’s hair for pictures. We talked about it and it was decided that she would just do morning drop-off. What a gift! So at 10:30 PM I turned off my alarm, read for thirty minutes about Apple in China, and went to sleep.
And woke up at 9:55 AM.
It was amazing, but I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off since then, just got off the revenue meeting call. No time to write to you, my loyal friends and readers.
I have about 60,000 tasks today. Oh god, oh god, a busy day. Oh god.
Eleven and a half hours of sleep my god.
I got bankers calling me I got lawyers calling me I got insurance people sending me shit I got this I got that I just worked up a little to do list for today and it is like fifteen things long.

SO I might half-ass this. Which means:
Lines that Would Have Been Tweets in the Oughts
ooo look at me I am a cool old school company who sends 1099s on legal paper. Whatever dork go back to the 80s
It is a crime the desktop version of Apple Music has no back button.
Man I could turn that Apple one into a whole edition. Right now I am listening to a playlist, and moving songs around in it while listening and… the playlist just does not update. They just keep playing the old version. It is so weird.
Also what is this abomination:

I hate that shit so much put the playhead back where it belongs back at the top where nature intended.

I am listening right now to today’s mix for you, since I had time on that sales call to get one together. It is a justamix. You will learn about that later. BUT before this call, I did listen to the new Bedhead Loved Macha re-issue that came in the mail and I had not listened to it in like twenty years and it was amazing and I love it.
Also The Numero Group is so evil, they sent out a new pre-order announcement right as I was listening to one of their last pre-order announcements oh my god they have so much of my money I need to STOP BUYING RECORDS IT IS OUT OF CONTROL.

They have cancelled my deodorant flavor (scent?) and I am ripshit. I have been using the same deodorant my whole life, though I did upgrade to the “high endurance” version in the mid-90’s. Thirty years with the upgraded version, the original version my whole life and it is what my dad used and I do not want to change. They have not cancelled it in Canada, yet, so I just spent an ungodly amount of money on eBay havign sixteen sticks sent to me. I am debating doing the math and figuring out how many sticks I will need for the rest of my life, like I did for ibuprofen. Is this extreme? Emma advocates me trying the thirty or forty other flavors this company makes, there has to be ONE that will suit my needs. But I don’t know, man. This is too big of a change. I am terrified. I am a small man living a small life in a small town and people are dying in the Middle East and I am writing about deordorant and I have spent a good 10,000 hours brooding on this exact topic in my life, but in the end, all philosophical and ethical roads still lead to a version of me that broods about deodorant. Life is fucking weird.
Speaking of buying lifetime supplies, recall I purchased my lifetime supply of Ibuprofen after reading in Dan Wang’s book Breakneck that China manufactures all of the Iburpofen in America. I finally got around to finishing that book now that I am done with A Song of Ice and Fire and can read other books now. And in that book he said that during the Shanghai Covid lockdown, China banned Ibuoprofen and other NSAIDs in Shangai because they would bring fevers down and could be used to cheat their COVID detection systems. So basically China found Ibuprofen problematic and still exported it to the rest of the world that is some crazy shit right there.

Thank you for your opinions about Cricut and the whole thing as a hobby. From you, dear readers, here is what I have learned: the Cricut that just does cutting for stickers is great. That one does not print, though. You need to get a Cricut that prints AND cuts for that. Which, from another reader, gets middling reviews. Another reader tells me another company (I think it was HP) makes a better quality machine, though it seemed to me they were implying you needed to buy separate printing and cutting machines. That feels a bit too “dive into the hobby whole hog” where you get all distracted spending a boatload of money on a hobby before you know you are even into it. So I think I’m gonna go with a mediocre print/cut Cricut machine. Thank you for your time.
And thank you to reader Patty from releasing me from the tyranny of my phone-connected Brother P-Touch label printer. She says that rather than have a single phone—connected one, what she does is buy multiples of the cheaper P-touch printers with keyboards, self-contained, and keeps them everywhere. This seems right up my alley, because my obsession with label printers has been hampered of late by accessibility concerns (it is always in the wrong place when I need it) and connectivity concerns (I am on android now and I haven’t even started to get the thing connected to my new phone). Bring back single-purpose electronic devices. Sign me up. I am excited.

There is a new Contrapoints. It is about the Saw franchise. It is as funny and beautiful as her previous work, and it is interesting (especially the Quentin Tarantino diversion) but I… I am not someone into torture porn. I do not want to see people suffer. I really don’t even really want my enemies to suffer. I mean, when my blood gets pumping I do, but mostly I don’t. And I don’t aspire to. In the immortal words of Maya Rudolph in Loot, “I don’t want to see anyone get exploded.” My Trump fantasies involve prisons not torture.
Still, as always, worth a watch.
Oh god my phone is beeping incessantly. My wife is texting. My emails are dinging. I gotta go. I should have my usual Jane anecdote here but I did not see her this morning.
I just found out a friend got engaged, though. That is exciting. Not all texts are bad.
JANE WHAT ABOUT JANE. We got pizza last night. We are eating out too much. She loved it. We watched some Real Civil Engineer. But not enough because I had to go to a pool partner meeting. I MISS MY DAUGHTER.
Here is a pretty picture.

Justa Mix for you today, all new except for ior, an amazing band I know nothing about and listen to all the time I think they are Swedish. They are so good. My algorithm has been playing them a lot lately. New War Child album is great we will talk a lot about that when I do a covers mix soon. New Metric is promising, as are the new APTBS, Fever Ray. Bruce Hornsby’s post-Dead career is so good.

Anyway sorry I am late back to our regularly scheduled cadence tomorrow. LIFE, MAN.
