Prologue

First, COMPILATION.
Small-town all-school reunions: for when your normal summer festival just won't do. The credit union sponsors a free lunch, but the bank is doing root beer floats! Theater in the park featuring your many relatives! Creepy old men who were creepy to you in high school are creepier and older now! Tour the new school addition that was built while you were going there! Catch the parade down main street that is heavily rerouted because half the town is being repaved at once! Spend most of your conversations establishing which of whom's relatives you graduated with! It's so pure and wholesome and... odd. So very odd.
The bed is in the correct room and in mostly the correct orientation. Almost everything else from here is gravy. Probably not sleeping on it til tomorrow or Wednesday (it got smoothed pretty well in the move), but we'll get there now.
Happy Bobby Bonilla Day!!
I love how Hiddleston basically disappeared during the pandemic and then Loki came back into public consciousness and everyone carried on with their thirst like nothing happened. Maybe everyone is just me, though...
Second, AMERICA'S PASSTIME
This past month was Pride, so woo-hoo there. But all sorts of places celebrate at different times. The Minnesota Twins, for example, have Pride Night tomorrow, July 6th, so we're heading to Minneapolis for a game and to get some sweet-ass rainbow jerseys, a shitload of junk food, and probably loss.
We also saw some fireworks n stuff I guess. I dunno. This week has been a blur. Been unloading and moving and dealing with... parents. Of a sort.
Third, CONSUMPTION.
- So many cop shows. I don't recommend them. I haven't had control over the TV and I haven't had much time for Youtube
or for reading.
- Metallica has a big remaster/rerelease of their self-titled album coming up, and there's a shitload of covers coming with it, including
this rad one by St. Vincent. I would buy a whole damn album of that from Miss Clark.
Fourth, PROMOTION.
This is the part where I talk about my book, A Void and Cloudless Sky, which you can order here. Unfortunately, nothing to report there. I suppose I can drop a link to the ol' Patreon, which is the only regular income I have round here. The money from that basically goes straight through my accounts into webhosting and contest fees and postage.
Finally, THE OUTRO.
I'd love to have something amazing and prescient here, but I'm in a big liminal portion right now, moving from the intermountain west to the northern plains and then eventually back to Chicago. I can't wait to get back to a regular routine again. See my cats. Sleep in without a dog wanting me to let her out. Listen to the El at 4:30am again. I never thought I'd be homesick for train-interrupted sleep, but here we are.
See you on the next one.
