Hey |IF:FNAME| |FNAME| |END:IF| 👋

I’ve been thinking about the ingredients for success—and specifically lifestyle, choices, routine, and sacrifices. One aspect that’s intrigued me is what practice and preparation looks like.

Models eat strict diets and work out in particular ways so they look good on the runway. Sprinters warm up and practice and get coached so they run their best on race day. Violinists practice practice practice. They don’t just pitch up and begin to play—it may look like it, but it’s far from the truth. Models aren’t all natural beauty. They work at it. Sprinters enhance their natural talent with practice. Violinists need to practice because everyone will hear when they play a wrong note. Even rock stars go to band practice.

They all have moments they’re preparing and practicing for. And everyday they’re working on what matters for those moments.

For people who do creative work, for money or for fun, creativity is a big thing that matters. It’s the thing that sets our work apart. It’s the thing that breathes life into what we do. Creativity is powerful and important. And it’s something we can practice. So we shine when our moment arrives. So we create without thinking. So we feel confident. So we exceed expectations.

But we seldom consciously and intentionally practice our creativity. We often do the equivalent of pitching up on race day without having trained at all. And not only do we expect to compete but we expect to win. That’s ludicrous.

You may think that creatives spend tons of time working on their creativity: isn’t that what we do all day every day? No. We don’t. We’re often doing everything and anything else. Administration. Taxes. Comparing. Social Media. Emails. Conferences. Meetings. Taking time off. And when we are creating it’s often doing what we’re told, trying to find the ‘right’ way of doing things, or doing things the same way we’ve always done them. Creativity isn’t painting the Mona Lisa the same way every day. And it isn’t a paint-by-numbers thing either. Creativity is creating new and different things. And this is something you can practice. https://ttkb.me/5min

So I made a self-contained class to help get your creative muscle in shape. It’s called 5 Minute Creative Workouts: Get Your Creativity in Shape. It’s practical and hyper-focused on bulking-up your creativity. There are 14 creative workouts I guide you through. Each one is only 5 minutes long, so you can easily fit it into your daily routine. The workouts will transform how you think and work—and maybe even how you live. During the class I go over how they help, how to do them, and a few variations to try out. I also show you how to design your own workout—one that will suit your needs and situation.

Take the class on TapTapKaboom School. (https://ttkb.me/5min-ttk) Or take it on Skillshare. (https://ttkb.me/5min-ttk)

💪 Enjoy it—I hope you get your creativity in shape!
