Hey |IF:FNAME| |FNAME| |END:IF| 👋

When I’m struggling to figure out exactly what I want, or when I’m trying to make a decision, I normally write and talk about it. So I can get it out my head. Because inside my head things aren’t always in proportion. Things are fuzzy. And I often go around in circles. But writing and talking aren’t the only tools you can use here. Drawing is an incredibly effective decision-making tool. When you draw something, whether it’s a situation, an experience, or an object, you take time to create a picture of what it looks like. Your brain is really good at using drawings—even stick men or rough doodles—as input for imagining what something could look, feel, and even smell like. As we draw, our thoughts become visual, which our brains can use more productively than words and blurry thoughts. We’re visual creatures.

By intentionally and consciously drawing what we want, or what we think we want, or even a bunch of options, we allow our visual brains to see into the future. We allow it to try something on without actually buying it. It’s like creating parallel universes. It’s powerful! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSi710fPCe4&ab_channel=TapTapKaboom

Try drawing various scenarios to choose from the next time you’re making a decision. Or when you’re trying to figure out what you actually want. It will clarify your thoughts. And present your brain with more visual data to make a decision with. Try practicing the technique with these items below. I posted a similar set of prompts on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/p/COZcpvrBG7e/) this week. * Perfect coffee location * Ideal desk setup * Yummiest breakfast * Your next pair of shoes * Best weekend ever * Perfect holiday * What you want your home to be

Let me know how it goes!

Also, apparently, today is World Password Day. I didn’t know that was a thing. Anyway, 1Password is celebrating this (makes sense) by offering a 6-month free trial to new users. I use 1Password for everything—bank accounts, unique password generation, 2 factor authentication, security questions and more! It’s fluffing awesome. Tap this link (https://start.1password.com/sign-up/?c=PASSWORDDAY) to get in on the magic. I don’t get anything out of promoting this—it’s just something I love using every day.

Another thing I use all the time is Listenable. I published my Get Inspired: Explore Your City course (https://ttkb.me/get-inspired-listenable) on there as an audio course, and in the past week I got bumped up to first class (featured teachers list) which means I get access to big promo campaigns. Like this one (https://listenable.io/web/plans/?coupon=TEACHER60) where you get 60% off your first year of Listenable—that means paying $2 per month for some pretty awesome audio content. I mainly listen to these courses when I’m cooking and commuting. I also don’t get anything out of promoting this.

Finally, I posted a video (https://www.instagram.com/p/COdGaadhzOl/) of wise words from Goda (Yoda’s friend) for Star Wars Day—May the 4th be with you!
