Christmas is looming, but there's so much to do!

|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|

Hello and happy October!

It’s the tenth month. Already. Winter is coming. Christmas is coming. And the memories of a holiday in the South of France are fading. A lot has happened since that 10 day holiday. I’ve worked on a FinTech project, I’ve spilled ginger beer on my laptop, I’ve fallen in love with Apple’s App Store UI design, my 3D After Effects class is up on Designers.how (https://designers.how/courses/animate-with-depth-after-effects?autoplay=1?utm_source=TapTapKaboom.com&utm_campaign=animate-with-depth-ae&utm_medium=Referral&utm_content=taptapkaboom) , and I know what it means for me to learn Dutch (or anything else) – I explain below.

Saying Yes means saying No

Here’s a little of what I’m writing about in Destroy Today: We can’t do everything we want to do. Well, I can’t anyway. Saying ‘yes’ to something means saying ‘no’ to many other things (temporarily at least). For example, I’ve started a 6 month Dutch class where I’ll be spending 9-15 hours a week learning Dutch. That means I need to replace time spent on something/s with that Dutch time – I need to choose what to say ‘no’ to for 6 months – and I will choose! Whether it’s consciously or unconsciously.

Become a teacher!

In October I’m collaborating with Skillshare to lead their New Teacher Training! This training is designed to help new teachers (maybe you??) (http://bit.ly/2xC4oht) get their class up and running in 30 days. This is how I got into teaching. It’s super fun and rewarding! I’ll be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on October 18 (https://www.skillshare.com/amas/147) to answer any questions you have about teaching on Skillshare. If you’ve ever considered teaching your own class join the October Teach Challenge! (http://bit.ly/2xC4oht) It’s not as scary as it sounds, and I’m sure you’ve got great skills and techniques others would love to learn – classes only need to be 10 minutes long, and can be on any topic you like!

For the JavaScript geeks

I love JavaScript and React. But I’m not going to teach more-than-beginner classes on it just yet. So I chatted to Wes Bos, an awesome JavaScript teacher, and he’s given me a discount code for you to use if you’re keen on learning more about JavaScript and ES6 (http://bit.ly/2xRSNue) , React (http://bit.ly/2fFuFkD) , Node (http://bit.ly/2xU9PYN) , or Sublime Text (http://bit.ly/2xJuH2U) . The code is STUDENTHUSTLE and gives you 28% off. Pretty sweet I think. I’ve taken the React course and am in the middle of the Node course – they’re brilliant.

For the time geeks

I like geeks. And being geeky. So I’m attempting to use the GMT or UCT timezone to schedule meetings in – I’m tired of timezones and summer timezones and all that. Why not try it out with me?

As always, you guys rock and make my life way fun and cool ❤️🦄💚🐠

Much love – Rich
