3 Big Things
This edition is all about big things. But 3 in particular: a big auction launch, an Adobe live event, and my wife's audio stories.
Hey there!
Big things take time.
But the more big things you do, the better you get at doing big things.
I have 3 big things to tell you about.
With some observations in-between.
Big thing #1
The first big thing is that I’ve finally finished my LIMINA project. And the first of seven auctions begins today. The rest of collection will be auctioned through 3 April. LIMINA is my biggest art project. I’ve been ambitious. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve grown a lot.
I’m incredibly proud of the artworks I’ve created.
And I’m totally okay with this big thing having taken forever. The space I gave myself for this project allowed me to create my best work.
If you know someone who loves a dreamy mixture between doodles and abstract art, please share my project with them.
Big thing #2
The next big thing is that I’m going live with Adobe on Wednesday at 6pm UTC.
That’s 7pm CET, 2pm ET, 11am PT.
I’ll be diving into creating a limited edition hoodie that will be available for purchase at the end of May. I love creating and teaching live. It gives me so much energy.
This will be my third time going live with Adobe. It doesn’t feel as big as it did the first time. And that’s okay. Big things sometimes don’t feel so big. That’s because we grow. Or something else seems even bigger. I find that it’s helpful to remember how big it was the first time. And then to take a moment to reflect on how I’ve grown, and what’s changed—and to be grateful of that growth.
Tune into the livestream on Wednesday.
Big thing #3
The third big thing is that my wife has produced 6 kid’s audio stories.
This is big and awesome for a few reasons.
The first is that my wife, Chantelle, has never done anything like this before.
She’s not in the children’s book industry. She’s not in the audio industry. She’s not in the tech industry.
Yet here she is with 6 audio stories released into the wild—audio stories that stimulate kids’ imagination, fill them with wonder and calm them down (all while their parents catch a 10 minute break).
She wrote them as books at first. She rewrote them as audio stories.
She got people to record the different voices for her. And re-record. And re-record just once more.
She added the sound effects and music.
She used the knowledge she had of editing my classes to edit these stories.
She used the countless hours reading and making up stories for our 3 year old as inspiration for the stories. And most likely the all the years she was a teacher.
She asked a friend to do mixing and mastering. And the re-mixing and re-mastering.
She battled to find where and how to upload these things.
She persevered.
She learned about herself.
She learned about the industry.
It took a long time from “I want to do this!” until the first episode was out.
But it’s done, and parents and kids are loving them.
Her next “season” or “series” will most likely be quicker and smoother. And she now has skills to help other people.
I’ve loved seeing the creative process in someone else up so close.
Please give the stories a listen (they’re free) and share them with friends and family who have kids.

What big thing are you working on?
Or wanting to work on?

I know they can be overwhelming.
Are you stuck?
