Returning home from FurSquared (and a show tonight!)
Nidoooo! 🩷
Hello new email list subscribers (and hello to critters who have been here a while too). I've had a bunch of new sign-ups recently thanks to a t-shirt giveaway, so thank you to everyone who signed up for the chance. I've reached out to the winners and most of the shirts are on their way (we still need to re-print a few sizes that we sold out of at recent shows).
I hope you stick around! I use this space to bring you alongside my experience of being a furry musician. Music, cons, fursuit photos and more!
Returning home from FurSquared
FurSquared was an absolute blast. It's the right mixture of chaos and chill vibes. I get to hang out with friends from around the area and enjoy meetups that don't overflow the room capacity, which is nice.
In some ways, FurSquared feels more like a "local con" than my actual local con Midwest FurFest, because MFF is so huge.
I also love the historical hotel in downtown Milwaukee where the con takes place. It's so ornate and posh, and it brings me joy to see it full of bright colorful animals.
I feel so fancy! Check out this album of photos from my fursuit photoshoot at FurSquared.
Otter Chaos! concert
Our concert went great! Dire Walf took some great photos that you can enjoy here.
We don't have the full concert footage yet, but here's a clip from our take on the 8-Bit Big Band arrangement of Still Alive.
I feel grateful for my bandmates who continue to rock it out so hard with me! We've been playing as a band for 5 years now which is a long time, and our FurSquared show really showed how much more connected and comfortable we are on stage compared to the early days.
That's a lot of animals and a lot of instruments!
Next show
Our next furshow is at VGM CON in April, in Minneapolis. Normally we're the VGM band at the furry con. This time we get to be the furry band at a VGM event!
It's an amazing con. I haven't been back since 2023, and I was planning on attending regardless, so I'm especially grateful we get to perform this year. A lot of musicians and bands I look up to are going to be there.
Anything else?
I actually have another show, TODAY! It's not a furry show, but it is a VGM one. It's for the UChicago Game Music Ensemble. It's mostly students but they allow community members, and I joined a few months ago. Tonight will be my first concert with them.

It's surprisingly the first Chicago music group I've been a part since moving here in 2021, perhaps because so much of my energy has gone into becoming a con musician! Having a regular rehearsal within walking distance has been really grounding, and kinda relaxing compared to con prep.
Even so, wish me luck tonight!
