Just finished a YA historical fiction novel you might like
Hi friends,
Representation is important! I'm on a YA novels kick again, particularly novels written by LGBTQ authors featuring LGBTQ characters.
I just finished Last Night at the Telegraph Club (Amazon affiliate link) by Malinda Lo, which is wonderful lesbian historical fiction set in San Francisco around the 1950's. I enjoyed taking a virtual tour around the city I'm familiar with, seventy years in the past (when there was a Sutro museum on the cliffs above Ocean Beach, for example, when only ruins exist today).
It was tremendously harder to be out and gay at that time, even in San Francisco. I really appreciated this story of a Chinese American girl figuring herself out and sticking up for who she was.
I just love these big old oak trees with Spanish moss hanging off the branches, air plants/bromeliads nestled into all their crevices.
