How to find expert journalism sources
Hi friends,
Teaching how to communicate about trans people with respect is a pillar of my writing. I am very pleased to share with you my piece on Brevity's Nonfiction Blog, How to Respectfully Write About Nonbinary People in Creative Nonfiction.
I emphasize the importance of writing about trans people respectfully by using their correct names, pronouns, and not being too weird when describing people. I also encourage writers to look for trans experts to cite.
On The Nonbinary Connection, I posted a follow-up to that point - how do you find trans experts as sources for journalism? My tactics include using databases of diverse sources, searching for the person's occupation plus "trans" on social media or in Google, and asking sources you are already speaking to if they have any recommendations for other people in their industry you could reach out to.

How to Look for Diverse Sources for Journalism
You know you should use a diverse set of expert sources for your articles. But how do you find someone who is an expert in your topic who doesn’t happen to be a white cishet man?Check out my spec
On another note, if you're planning to buy something from Amazon in the US, the easiest way to support my writing is by using my affiliate ad link.
Take care,
