24OCT2026: Let's Catch Up

It’s been a minute. I’ve missed you all. I’m sure you’ve been happy to have a lighter email inbox. It’s been a rough few months, but I’m back to writing and recording. Let’s get to it!

Articles

Lament Before the Celebration of Life

My family just lost a husband, father, and grandpa, and we walked through the whole process of death instead of fast-forwarding to a celebration of life. We lamented, laughed, and now we’re learning to live in the space he left.

The Open Slots

I'd love to be a prolific blogger. Not the famous kind, but the tons-of-volume kind. I have a lot to share, say, and show, but a year of building a house and the loss of my father-in-law squeezed out the time. I have to be patient for those open slots.

How I Got My Morning Radio Show Back as a Podcast

I’ve listened to the same sports morning show for 32 years. They shut down a pirate podcast feed on Monday, so I created my own personal feed. Here’s how to do it for any radio show you want as a podcast.

You Can't Escape the Heat

In Oklahoma City, it has been hot. I'm talking record-breaking heat, the second-hottest summer on record. Normally, we get about 11 days a year when we break 100. This summer, we've had 40. Last year, we had one. The heat has been impressive and oppressive.

Link Blog

Here's the fun side of the internet from the last seven weeks. The blob world record now sits at nearly 93 feet in the air, and until I read about it I had no idea there were blob athletes. Scientists asked 1,000 people to bury their underwear, a study I've unknowingly joined more than a few times as a runner. I made my case for the greatest candy to ever exist, mostly on the peanut butter ratio and how well a whole bag hides in the freezer. And I spent an entire day thinking about dragons and their tiny wings.

On the nerdier end, people are digging old computers out of drawers and the backs of closets, and I found a great post on retro doodads while I was still editing my own. Dario Amodei also laid out why we must pace the frontier. I still have no idea who to believe in the whole "AI will end us" mess.

The rest of what I saved is on the link blog.
