Long time no newsletter, reviving the REVSYS newsletter
We sort of forgot we had a newsletter! Sorry about that!
So we've been really busy with helping our clients and sort of forgot we had a newsletter... for several years it seems. Our bad.
If you don't even remember who we are, here is our homepage.
Completely understand if you no longer want to receive info and updates from us, so wanted to put a big unsubscribe link right here up front if that is the case. No hard feelings!
If you're sticking around, that's awesome and thank you!
So what's new with us? We've been busy keeping at the forefront of Python, Django and large scale Kubernetes operations as usual. Finding the right patterns and processes to make building cool tech easier and less frustrating for everyone involved.
Here are some recent talks, podcast episodes and blog posts to catch you up on some of our public things.
Brief History of Django
Frank gave a talk on the early history of Django at DjangoCon 2024 that dove deep in the first few years of Django, how it got Open Sourced and some fun stories related to that bit of Django history.
Podcasts
We've been honored to be guests on DjangoChat a few times recently, the most recent two appearances are:
Jeff Triplett - Django Survey 2025 where Jeff talks with Carlton and Will about the results of the most recent Django Developer Survey.
Frank was also on last April talking about Coding with LLMs
Whether or not you're interested in these two specific episodes you should definitely subscribe to the DjangoChat podcast to help stay up to date with everything going on in the Django community.
In July Frank joined his friend Adam Haney on the ./OPEN $STORY podcast talking about Open Source history & Super Charging Engineering Teams
Blog Posts
While we neglected our newsletter, we didn't drop the ball on blog posts. Here are some of our favorites:
Kojo Idrissa wrote up a piece explaining What IS a Django App?
Velda Kiara wrote how you can use Pydantic to make generating JSON-LD metadata for SEO easier
Lacey Henschel wrote about making blazing fast search with Meilisearch and Django and how to make better Django management commands with Click and Typer
And finally Frank wrote up some use tips for making your Python Docker builds faster.
Thanks for sticking around to the end and we promise to get subsequent newsletters out more frequently than every half decade. Promise!
If you have friends that might find our info useful we hope you will consider suggesting this newsletter to them.
And if you have any Python Code or Python People problems we're pretty good at fixing both your tech and process issues.
Until next time!
