What does the Town Council do?
Dear ,
Many residents have asked us what the responsibilities of the Town Council are. They are listed on the Marlow Town Council website as:
- Traditional events
- Some parks and some play areas
- The allotments
- The cemetery on Wethered Road
- Grass and hedge cutting in certain areas
- Support for the town bus
- Removal of flyposters and illegal signs on some street furniture
However, local councillors should represent their ward, propose strategic policy and work with residents. They also have a say in planning applications and can influence Buckinghamshire Council decisions and policy.
For the last decade, the Conservative-led Town Council has interpreted this list to be the minimum possible. We, as Residents for Marlow, will seek to add more value and therefore expand this list to include other vital services for the local community such as GP practice capacity and safe school journeys for children and young people. Stay tuned to find out more…
