The Marlow Film Studio planning inquiry starts tomorrow
Dear ,
Marlow Film Studio, the development proposed by Dido Property Limited, submitted an appeal to the decision by Buckinghamshire Council to refuse its planning permission in 2024, and this will be discussed at a public inquiry this week and next.
Back in May 2024, Marlow residents overwhelmingly (with 85%) voted against the Film Studio development on our town’s doorstep in a Parish Poll.
We support that decision for a variety of reasons: the loss of Greenbelt through the addition of urban sprawl; the loss of green leisure space and countryside around Marlow; the significant increase in road traffic and resulting parking issues in Marlow; the disputable benefits (but certain harms in terms of noise, pollution and traffic) it would bring to our town; the questionable case of why a studio complex of that size is needed in that location.
Film studios around Marlow are going into administration, halting expansion plans or even changing to become data centres, due to the changing economic climate, making the Marlow Film Studio’s unsubstantiated claims on job creation and contributions to the local economy very questionable indeed.
We hope the Secretary of State and the Inspectorate will listen to the local voices - and to Buckinghamshire Council. You can still add your voice, by attending the inquiry on Tuesday, Wednesday evening or Friday.
