Community hub discussion - the final installment
Dear ,
The fifth and final question at our forum to discuss a ‘community hub’ on Saturday 25th January was ‘what would encourage you to participate?’
Residents wanted a community hub to celebrate and elevate what already exists in Marlow. It should be detailed and regularly updated on My Marlow and/or a new website. The hub should bridge the gap between Marlow Town Council and the community, so councillors could have ‘surgeries’ and be regularly available to speak to residents.
It should more generally be a repository for information and a safe space with input from all age groups. Meeting new people and making new friends was mentioned frequently.
It should be accessible and in the centre of Marlow. There could be courses and free classes offered. The hub could also address any unmet needs via the community, such as picking up shopping or providing work experience. The hub could have a volunteer team who offer to meet occasional needs such as grass cutting or giving lifts to less mobile residents. People like the idea of being able to get recommendations for local, trustworthy tradespeople.
This concludes our series on the outcomes of the discussion of the Community Hub. If you have ideas, thoughts or suggestions how to develop further from here, we’d like to hear from you - and we would also like your support in the upcoming elections to empower us to realise the full potential of a Marlow Community Hub.
