if you know me, or have ever spent any time in my vicinity, or heard about anything i’ve done, you might have gleaned at some point that i really, really love riverdale. what with the jughead zines and all.
you also may know i am currently the managing editor of Hyperreal Film Journal, an independent, fully volunteer-run daily film publication. i’ve shared some writing i’ve done for the journal in this newsletter, i think, too.
well, after several years i have finally launched my dream project with HFJ: Riverdale is Cinema, a weekly Riverdale recap column for HFJ’s patreon. with the glory of hindsight i am rewatching all of Riverdale starting with season 1. it’s a good time!
the first is up for free, and the rest are for patreon patrons only. we use the patreon to support the journal - providing stipends for writers doing fest coverage, stipends for editors (there’s 7 of us and none of us get paid to do this!), and website maintenance. i’ve been working with HFJ for years now and personally seen it grow from a scrappy two person operation to a full team. we accept pitches from anyone, regardless of writing experience, and it’s really important to me to be able to cultivate a truly independent space for folks—especially as the online media landscape shrinks and shrinks.
