hi,
the passage of time continues to alarm me. how it is halfway through september.
since i last wrote my life has been mainly consumed by the new cat we adopted. his name is theo and originally we were interested in him because he was described as being “self serving” and disinterested in people, but a great lover of other cats. the latter has held true but the FORMER…he’s actually a huge goofball lovebug.
he is noisier than kenny but makes much softer/quieter sounds, it’s just a nonstop stream of them. and he loves to be pet and brushed. him and kenny play together which is a huge win for me. keeps kenny from bothering our other cat, moro, who kenny loves but who does not love kenny.
anyway i meant to share this last month but!! hyperreal is doing a bootleg shirt preorder challenge with raw paw, the print studio my partner works at. if you have any of the kenny shirts i’ve done over the years, they were all printed by raw paw.
i made a design for madame web inspired by those early aughts lizzie mcguire shirts, which you can preorder until Sept 22nd. if i get at least 10 preorders the shirts will be screenprinted, and if it’s less than 10 you’ll still get the shirt, it’ll just be a digital print. still very nice, but the screenprint is cooler in my opinion, soooo. :-)

aside from that, lessee.. there’s a new drawing a dialogue if you missed it where cathy talks about the comics professional practices class she’s teaching. she’s a genius. also if you listen carefully i bet you can pinpoint the moment where i started thinking too hard about my own career and began a dissociative spiral.
aside from that i’m just plugging away on the diss, trying to get it done this year so i can defend sometime next year. if folks are interested i can maybe share some snippets from it? idk let me know. also curious if folks would be into more talk-y style emails, whether about stuff im watching/reading or like researching etc (ai would be a topic for sure.) if you feel strongly i think you can just reply to this email and i’ll see it??
