summer 2024

my third summer in Seoul has been excruciatingly hot and busy, but I’ve been well-fed.

being here long enough to return to places always feels like a gift. this is the entrance to a lovely bookstore in Jeonju, southwest of Seoul.

we stayed in a traditional house and watched the rain hit the courtyard in the mornings. when it cleared up, we went out to find familiar things.

in December, this library was closed and the pond surrounding it was covered in ice. this time, I sipped on lotus tea and hid from the heat in its shelter.

time is one of my many gifts.

I have received many gifts.

but we really do baseball better in Korea.
