I got a lot to share, so I'll spare the cliché intro. Move along!
I recently acquired a magic trackpad for my desk and I have to say that it is awesome. I have used trackpads all my life because of laptops, and I feel right at home on this. What I love the most, is that all the GNOME gestures that I use when I'm "on the go", work flawlessly at my desk. I don't have to have two different workflows, I just swipe up with 3 fingers everywhere. The only complaint is that it's a bit unwieldy at times for my small hands, but it's something I can tell I'll get used to. Highly recommended if you can afford the steep price. They pop up on Craigslist from time-to-time, in my area at least, so stay on the lookout.
Why isn't JSON part of Redis Core? I recently ran into a nasty situation where I tried to use RedisJSON with my provider, Upstash, but they don't support it! I had to resort to just concatenating it as a string! So I ask you, my audience, why isn't JSON part of Redis core? I would really like to know, as it seems absolutely bonkers to me.
I recently stumbled upon Dotenv sync, a service from the people behind the dotenv
npm package. It's a service that syncs all your .env
files across services and dev environments. I can't wait to implement it in my projects, especially when the Netlify integration rolls out, which they said they're working on.
I might have mentioned this last week, but I planned to start a new segment, rounding up the various thoughts I collect throughout the week on a new website. It was my "self-hosted twitter" if you will. Unfortunately, the website is not done, and I have not collected any thoughts. Hopefully, I have better news next week, but no promises.
I actually wrote a newsletter this week with over 300 words! I still can't believe that I've stuck to making this every week(ish) for this long, but I have.
See ya on Sunday!
