Why Amazing Race was so great! Plus Survivor, AYTO, Flip or Flop, SYTYCD news, and two reviews
Dear newsletter friends,
This morning, I woke up groggy. As I was playing Wordle, I realized my iPhone was at 1 percent, and then shut itself off.
My electric razor froze mid-swipe, which was a little painful because it just sort of latched on to my face. And of course my laptop needed to be connected to power in order to function.
That’s how I feel today, too, like I need to be plugged in for several hours, maybe days, or weeks. It’s like the last two years are finally catching up.
Or perhaps it’s because I’ve been doing and writing a lot this week! So let’s get to all of the reviews and news.
Amazing Race & Survivor
I wrote about:
Re: Survivor, I’m working on a story with more details about what happened with Jackson. That should be published this afternoon, and will be here when it’s live.
Also this week, we got some news about:
Reality show reviews
I reviewed these two shows:
Reality show news
So You Think You Can Dance is returning without Nigel Lythgoe (updated)
Also: see Ex on the Beach season five’s cast, which has several Big Brother and Love Island alum—including one team that couldn’t return to The Amazing Race but is on this show
HGTV’s Flip or Flop is ending, as both Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack announced on their Instagram accounts. People cites a source who says “The show was just too intimate of a setting” for the ex couple.
Even more news
How “90 Day Fiance and its Ukrainian stars have taken the show from escapist garbage to vehicle for real-life grief”
Only one of HGTV’s Dream Home winners has stayed in their dream home for more than a year.
🤩 I recommend
Things I’ve found amusing, helpful, fascinating, amazing, and/or all of those things:
This show, which is now airing on Bravo after Top Chef every Thursday
This show, if you like The Bachelorette and/or Bridgerton
Only the very end of this show’s episodes
Making Fun on Netflix. I’ll probably review it this weekend, but I adore its creativity and grouchiness
best,
Andy
