Special preview! Your reality TV premieres for June 25 to July 8, 2023
Dear newsletter friends,
The summer solstice has passed, so even as the days get incrementally shorter, we're headed into the hottest time of year—for weather, of course, and often for reality TV.
With the writers' strike, and possible actors' strike, things will be a little different. Big Brother won't show up until August, for example, though in other ways, it's status quo, like with a new Bachelorette season.
So let's look at what's coming to your TVs over the next two weeks.
Yes, this is a double preview, as the long July 4 holiday weekend is next weekend here in the States. 🎆
This is a special preview of my weekly preview that reality blurred supporters receive most Sunday nights.

Reality TV highlights for the next two weeks
The reality TV shows premiering include:
-
The return of Claim to Fame, my favorite new show from last summer
-
A new Tough As Nails, one of my favorite competitions, which will burn through its entire season in one month, starting July 2
-
New seasons of The Bachelorette and Ready to Love, and the new dating show Deep Fake Love, which somehow involves deepfakes
-
Hack My Home, Buried in the Backyard, and Christina on the Coast, which I have grouped together because they all connect to home life somehow
-
Game shows Press Your Luck, The Chase, and Generation Gap

The documentaries premiering include:
-
profiles of Rock Hudson, Wham, and Shaun White
-
Netflix's American Gladiators doc, which follows ESPN's look at American Gladiators
-
Two different docs about havens: Casa Susanna (for trans people in 1950s New York) and Eldorado (for queer people in 1920s as Nazis came to power)
I hope at least one or more of those shows will bring you some entertainment—and I look forward to discussing many of them with you, starting with Claim to Fame tomorrow!
best,
Andy
