š§ Great British Baking Show bonus!
Happy Tuesday! In the U.K., the finale of The Great British Bake-Off airs tonight, and Friday the episode arrives on Netflix.
So hereās another bonus e-mail with behind-the-scenes details about Bake-Off!
š¤ Why doesnāt Prue Leith have her own handshake?
Paul Hollywood signals to bakers that theyāve achieved perfection with a handshake; Prue Leith and Mary Berry before her have no such thing.
I wanted to know why Prue doesnāt have the Prue Pat, or something! And Prue told me: She doesnāt want one.
ā³ How do bakers tell time?
Thereās no clock in the tent, and the hostsā time calls are fake. So how do the bakers know how much time remains?
They do have their own individual timers, so bakers can time how long somethingās in the oven.
But if they want to know how much time until the challenge is over, they have to ask a producer, who will tell them. More here.
šŗ Where can I watch early Bake-Offs?
The first seven seasonsāor series, to use the British termāare not on Netflix, but they are available free to stream on The Roku Channel (which does not require a Roku deviceā itās just badly named).
Season/series numbering is a huge mess, so to help clear things up, I created a chart mapping out all Bake-Off seasons, with links to watch. (Some are even on DVD!)
