Celebrity Antiques Roadshow, Race to the Center of the Earth coming soon, a worthy Survivor substitute, and more
Dear newsletter friends,
This week has been a busy one for me, though “busy” sounds almost comically simple, like some kind of anachronistic reference to the Before Times.
Just getting a new washer and dryer delivered, which we had to do this week because the 10-year-old ones decided they’d had enough, or picking up and caring for a friend after minor surgery, which I did yesterday afternoon and evening, involve more time and mental energy than normal. And high anxiety.
I recognize that this is daily life for so many people, like those who work at the surgery center or deliver appliances, and I am grateful for them.
Meanwhile, the winter Television Critics Association press tour is going on now, so I’ve been watching press conferences, asking questions, and gathering material for future coverage.
As a result of all this, I look back and think, Aah! I didn’t write anything this week! Which is not true; I just didn’t get to everything I’d hoped to.
Of the many shows that premiered this week, there are several I want to watch, like The Bridge on HBO Max and Nadiya Bakes on Netflix. I have a piece on RHOSLC in the works—perhaps including my argument for this.
I didn’t even get to my rewatch of Survivor: The Australian Outback yesterday! But I will soon, so look for that here this weekend.
Oh, the challenge during the previous episode of Survivor I re-watched reminded me that it’s almost been 20 years since I ate this. You’re welcome for that image.
Shows I reviewed
The return of Tough As Nails, which is just great
News from the week
Antiques Roadshow announced its Celebrity Edition with these 17 celebrities
Antiques Roadshow’s EP said this during a press conference, and it really resonated with me
Nick Cannon is being temporarily replaced as Masked Singer host because he has COVID-19
Race to the Center of the Earth, from Amazing Race’s producers, is finally going to air
There has been a lot of Bachelor news, which I will write about once I’ve had time to think about what I have to add. In short: Chris Harrison defended a contestant’s racist behavior. Then he apologized, and the contestant apologized.
