Ready4R (2024-07-31): Be a Sponsor
Welcome to the Weekly Ready for R mailing list! If you need Ready for R course info, it's here. Past newsletters are available here.
Time to get back on the horse.
The past month I’ve been busy with multiple things; most importantly, I’ve been starting my new position as Director of Training and Community at the Data Science Lab (DaSL) at Fred Hutch. I’m responsible for deciding the roadmap of our course development and delivery, but also for sustaining learning communities at the Hutch to empower people to help each other to learn.
I will have to make some hard decisions about how to proceed, but I’m also excited to help shape the learning culture at the Hutch, and do a lot of exciting collaborations on the way. I haven’t been this excited about work in a long time. I will try to write as much as I can for the newsletter, especially in my educational efforts in Data Science. Given the job is pretty jam packed, I’ll do my best.
Sponsor me in the FH Obliteride
A short ask if you’ve enjoyed my free newsletter: I am walking for the Fred Hutch Obliteride 5K and I’d love your sponsorship. The FH Obliteride is an event on August 10 that raises money for Fred Hutch in its mission. I’ll be walking in the virtual 5K to raise donations. Specifically, all donations will go to paying people for their time to collaborate with the Data Science Lab.
Specifically, the Fred Hutch Data Science Lab is back for our second Obliteride and this time we’re fundraising to amplify our impact on data science broadly across Fred Hutch. Our team’s fundraising will go to supporting direct engagement with data science training, consulting, and advising by any of our Fred Hutch staff to help advance their work.
Please consider donating here, especially in the memory of a loved one. If you’ve gotten any value from this free newsletter, I encourage you to donate. Every little bit helps!
We really appreciate it!
Best,
Ted
