Ready for R Newsletter - A New Start
Welcome to the Weekly Ready for R mailing list! If you need Ready for R course info, it's here. Past newsletters are available here.
Hi Everyone,
This is the new Ready for R mailing list's home (buttondown), since tinyletter is being sunsetted. I have transferred over all email addresses from there.
I plan to send weekly emails updating you about helpful R features that help you become a wizard with data, especially with exploratory data analysis and Shiny.
If you're a new subscriber, welcome. The free course info is below.
You can also unsubscribe using the link below. I'll miss you, but such is life.
Best,
Ted Laderas
Welcome to Ready for R 2.0!
Welcome to your journey to learn R. R can make your life easier, whether helping you explore data, visualize it, or communicate it to others.
Please note this a brand new version of Ready for R. There will be some growing pains associated with this new version, but there are many quality of life improvements to the new version, including embedded videos, and a single RStudio.cloud project for the entire course, rather than having to clone multiple projects.
If you find any errors, or are confused about anything, please use this Google Form to report your issue.
How to Get Started in the Course
Create an account at https://rstudio.cloud.
After that, please watch the video below for instructions on how to clone the Ready for R project into your own workspace.
The next thing to watch is the Part 1 Video. I recommend you watch the first 10 minutes or so before you open the project and get started.

You're now on your way to learn R! The videos are linked within the notebooks for each section. Please note that they are part of a single large video for the class. Each individual section is timestamped in the notebook. If there is a better (more accurate) timestamp, again, please report it using the google form above.
RStudio Cloud Link
The link to the RStudio.cloud project you need in the video is here: https://rstudio.cloud/project/2312484
This is the project for the entire course. There are instructions in the video above to make a copy to your own RStudio.cloud account.
Class Website
The course website is here: https://ready4r.netlify.app
The overall breakdown of parts for the course is here: https://ready4r.netlify.app/schedule/
Class notes and Videos can be accessed at https://ready4r.netlify.app/class/ - each class entry has some frequently asked questions and answers, so look here first if you get confused.
Class readings are here. They are optional, but will reinforce your learning. https://ready4r.netlify.com/reading
Where are Parts 6 and 7?
The lectures and videos were from a larger R class and these cover more advanced topics. I've taken them out of Ready for R.
Assignments and Answers
Assignments will not be graded, they are there for you to practice.
The answer keys are intentionally a little difficult to get to. Try them out before you look at the answers. You'll definitely learn more.
To view them, you have to download them and open them in your web browser.
