Monthly Newsletter - May 2025

Happy May!
Spring is in full swing, and with it comes exciting updates in Canadian immigration, along with inspiring moments that continue to shape our work and our community. At R&R Law LLP, we’re focused on providing our clients with timely insights and expert guidance as immigration programs evolve.
In this month’s newsletter, we’re highlighting a major digital transition for the Atlantic Immigration Program, a historic Express Entry draw for education professionals, and a few reflections from a recent leadership event that left us feeling motivated and aligned with our values.
Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) Goes Digital
As of May 1, 2025, the Immigration and Population Growth (IPG) Branch has launched a new online system for AIP endorsement applications. This transition marks a significant step forward in simplifying and improving the process for employers. Key improvements include:
A more user- and mobile-friendly platform
Built-in prompts to help minimize application errors
Enhanced permissions for Authorized Signing Officers to manage access across applications
Important reminders for employers:
Employers submitting new endorsement applications must complete an Access Request Form in the new system.
The AIP Designation application process remains on the current AIP Online portal.
Endorsement applications submitted before April 30 at 11:59 p.m. on the old system do not need to be resubmitted.
Even if your Designation is still valid, your organization must be authenticated in the new portal to proceed with new applications.
This modernization effort is a welcome change aimed at reducing delays and improving the employer experience.
Express Entry Milestone: First-Ever Draw for Education Professionals
In a landmark move, IRCC conducted its first education category-based draw through Express Entry on May 1, issuing 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs). To qualify, candidates needed:
A minimum CRS score of 479
A valid Express Entry profile created before 10:35 a.m. UTC, August 10, 2024
This new category recognizes the vital role educators play in Canada’s economy and signals increased opportunity for qualified applicants in the field.
2025 Express Entry Snapshot (So Far):
Total ITAs issued: 32,929
Draws by Category:
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): 7
French-language proficiency: 3
Canadian Experience Class (CEC): 3
Education: 1
As the program evolves, we’re committed to keeping you informed and prepared for every opportunity.
