New Service at R&R Law LLP
We're thrilled to announce that we are now offering Judicial Review services. If you believe that IRCC’s decision is unreasonable, our team can help you file an Application for Judicial Review with the Federal Court of Appeal. We also assist with cases where you think that a serious mistake has been made, and the original decision needs correction.
Immigration Updates for French citizens
The Government of Canada continues to make it easier for French citizens to immigrate permanently, particularly through the Express Entry draws. The latest French language proficiency round now has the lowest score among other draw categories. Additionally, two new immigration pilots have been announced: the Rural Community Immigration Pilot and the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot, launching in the fall of 2024. These programs aim to strengthen rural and Francophone minority communities by addressing labour shortages and creating pathways to permanent residence.
Updated Travel Information for Mexican Citizens
Effective February 29, 2024, Mexican citizens with a valid US non-immigrant visa or a Canadian visa within the past 10 years, traveling by air on a Mexican passport, can apply for an electronic travel authorization (eTA). The application process for work or study permits remains unchanged. Canada continues to support travel, tourism, and business with Mexico while addressing asylum claim trends.
Changes to International Study Permits: Provincial Attestation Letters (PALs)
As of March 4, 2024, the government of British Columbia has initiated the issuance of Provincial Attestation Letters (PALs) to eligible postsecondary institutions. Alberta has also commenced the issuance of PALs to international students. These PALs are now mandatory for new international student applicants seeking a study permit in these provinces.
