Happy New Year All!
We hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. As we embark on a new chapter in 2024, we want to extend our warmest wishes for a year filled with joy, prosperity, and exciting opportunities.
New Year, New Immigration Policies! The first half of the first month of 2024 has already brought in a flurry of updates:
OINP-Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream:
Canada has introduced some notable changes to its immigration policies, creating fresh possibilities for prospective immigrants. One significant update comes from the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), specifically the Employer Job Offer: International Student stream.
Previously limited to one-year credentials requiring a degree for admission, the OINP has expanded its criteria. Now, international students who have successfully completed any one-year college program granting an Ontario College Graduate Certificate are eligible to apply. This positive shift aims to foster inclusivity and diversity, providing more international students with the chance to participate in the OINP.
Temporary Resident Pathway for Palestinian Extended Family in Gaza:
Amid the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel, Canada, under the leadership of the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, has introduced a new temporary resident pathway. This initiative seeks to provide a secure refuge for extended family members in Gaza who have Canadian citizens or permanent residents as relatives.
Eligible family members of Canadian citizens or permanent residents, along with their immediate family members, can apply for a fee-exempt study permit or open work permit upon arrival in Canada. This measure includes access to three months of health coverage through the Interim Federal Health Program and settlement services to aid integration into the community.
First Express Entry Draw of 2024
The year commenced with the first Express Entry draw, inviting 1,510 candidates through an all-program draw with a minimum score requirement of 546. Although not particularly groundbreaking, this draw sets the stage for potential industry-specific draws in the coming days. If you're eyeing an invitation through Express Entry, stay tuned for updates and changes in 2024.
