[Quill] 🔎 Search & 🌅 Image for all plans
Hello everyone,
I'm Eunjae from Quill. Today, I have two exciting news for you. Now, your website on Quill has /search page where you and your visitors can search for pages within your website. You can also open the search by cmd + k or ctrl + k. You don't have to do anything on Quill. It just works now.
Another update is, I've decided to support images for all plans. So far, it wasn't the case. The images were supported only on the paid plan. Quill being as an independent service should not serve images directly from Craft's server. If it did, it would be unethical. It's literally stealing Craft's server resource, meaning no cost for Quill, and more cost for Craft. So when you use Quill, all the images are copied/stored in Quill's server and served from there. That's why images have been supported only on the paid plan, which can cost a lot.
Why have I changed my mind? Quill provides advanced features to the paying users. However, Quill should still provide basic features to the users on the free plan. Not rendering images will just make your website look weird (missing important images here and there). It doesn't bring any value to you or Quill. If the free plan with image support is valuable enough to you and the paid plan brings more valuable features, then some of you will upgrade, I believe. As an indie developer working on Quill, I'm betting on this, and going to embrace the cost of hosting images for the free plan.
So, to make Quill successful, I need your feedback to make Quill more attractive (for both free and paid plans). What's stopping you from trying out Quill now? What do you need the most? What do you want to build with Craft and Quill?
