Queer Art Club October
Hello all!
This month’s art club will take place on the second Saturday of the month - the 11th October at the usual time of 12 to 2pm in the learning centre in Butler Gallery.
Our artist this month is Woody Bennett, aka Orchid! Woody will be doing a series of design workshops with us, culminating in some costume creation using upcycling methods!
The first workshop with Woody will focus on design, impact, silhouette and basic sewing shapes (no experience necessary!). Woody will also bring examples of work to try on.
Please see below for an about me from Woody!
Hi I'm Woody, a.k.a. Orchid, and I'm a drag artist from Waterford. Orchid is all about bold looks, creative performances and celebrating life. I like to blend elements of camp, glamour, and fun into my costumes, to create something individual and unique. Orchid is a celebration of joy, creativity, and fun, taking inspiration from everything and anything. My favourite part of creating costumes is seeing what I can achieve with a minimal budget.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
As always, the workshop has limited spaces, so please reply to this email to secure your spot, and if you can no longer attend, let me know so I can allocate it to someone on the wait list.
The learning centre and Butler gallery are accessible places, and if you have any access needs, please let me know.
Thanks so much!
Ruth
P.S The November art club will take place on the 22nd November as the Craft Market in Butler Gallery is taking place on the second Saturday of the month.
