Hello everyone!

Hope you are all well. Welcome to the first newsletter from Queer Art Club Kilkenny (a long one this month).

This month’s club is happening next Saturday 14th June 12pm - 2pm in the Butler Gallery. Our facilitator this month is Cúan Cusack (aka Culchie Spice). This session is pride themed 🌈 and we will be making a rag flag! We will be using post consumer textiles and fabric scraps to create a pride rag flag, diverting textile waste from landfill, and bringing our art together. Bring fabric if you have some you would like to use. Otherwise materials are provided as usual!

As always, spaces are free but limited due to the size of the room. Simply reply to this email if you’d like a spot!

Speaking of Pride, Kilkenny Pride are currently looking for volunteers for the festival weekend 24th to 27th July and the run up to it! They are also seeking committee members. Anyone interested can fill out this form - https://tinyurl.com/53xxrn6c

Additionally - the artist in resident in the Butler Gallery (Ki McBride) is looking for participants to engage in a Queer portrait project - Ki is looking for individuals who would like to co-create a portrait of themselves, alongside at least one close friend. Each session will take 4-5 hours and there are 9 spots for this. This project is happening in June so if you would like more information or would like to take part if there are spaces left, contact Ki at thewellslane@gmail.com.

Also! We have received funding from the Carlow Arts Office to pilot Queer Art Club in Carlow. We will be running three sessions in June (10th, 17th and 24th June in the VISUAL Arts Centre Carlow). The sessions will include queer quilting, stick and poke tattooing (on fruit) and filmmaking! Our facilitators will be Cúan Cusack and Rhys Wallace. While these workshops take place in Carlow, they are open to all LGBT+ indiduals and their allies that are 18+. If you would like to sign up, we would love to have you!
