↗ Princeton University Press' big 75% off sale
Hi folks, if you've subscribed to my email list, I imagine you might be the kind of person who is really into books, in which case you might want to know that Princeton University Press (PUP) is doing a massive 75% sale on hundreds of titles in architecture, economics, history, and more.
Check it out: Get in on the PUP 75% off Book Lover Sale ↗
I'm not getting paid anything to say this. I just saw the sale and figured you might be interested. The sale actually ended on Feb 14, but they're extending it to Feb 21, 2023.
Here are a handful of titles that caught my eye:
Traditional Chinese Architecture gathers for the first time in English, 12 seminal essays by the scholar considered by many to be the world’s leading historian of Chinese architecture.
Boko Haram: a history of one of the world's deadliest jihadist groups.
The National Origins of Policy Ideas explores the idea of "knowledge regimes" - the communities of policy research organizations (eg. think tanks, state research offices etc) that generate the ideas which influence policymakers, and eventually laws.
Publics and Counterpublics: on what it means to be a public, how publics are made, how publics are influenced and the influence they wield in turn, and how their definition has changed over time.
Things Fall Together: on the emerging material science of programmable matter.
A quick note on how to get the books delivered if you're based in Africa
You'll notice, that when you go to the sale landing page, you can choose one of two stores depending on where you'll ship your books.
The list of discounted titles in each store is different. I found that the store for US/Canada/Latin America/Asia/Australia had a much larger selection of titles (I think the PUP Twitter account explained that this has something to do with the titles they have available in the warehouse nearest those locations).
So what do you do if you're based in Africa, but want to access the titles that only ship within the US?
If you're based in Ghana or Nigeria, you can sign up for Aramex Shop & Ship, which is a service that gives you a local US-based delivery address for online orders. The company receives the package on your behalf in their warehouse, and forwards it on to you.
I've used this service for years and they've been very reliable. Books routinely get delivered to my door within 2 to 3 days of arriving at the Aramex US warehouse. Fair warning that it's a bit pricey, but the reliability and speed is well worth it. They charge based on the weight of items, and you can estimate the fee using their online fee calculator.
(I only mentioned Ghana and Nigeria above because those are the countries in Africa I'm 100% certain they deliver to, but I'm sure they serve other African countries as well)
Okay, this email became a lot longer than I initially planned. I hope you find a few titles within your areas of curiosity (it's really worth taking a few minutes to play with the filters to see if something catches your fancy - 75% off is a big discount). Here's the link again to the sale. Happy hunting!
