Questions to ask before you join a startup
Hey there - we just published a new essay.
In conversations with friends who are hunting for startup jobs, we noticed that most people don’t ask many questions. This feels weird. Choosing the wrong company could be a seriously bad decision for your life (and finances) — yet it’s common to decide based on incomplete information.
What if you evaluated startups more like the way VCs run due diligence?
An investor may spend weeks investigating a startup just to figure out if it’s worth writing a check to. So it stands to reason that if you are going to dedicate a real chunk of your life to a company, you should run a similar process. This essay will get you started.
This one should (hopefully) be useful if you:
• Are job searching at startups
• Will ever be job searching at startups
It might also be interesting if you’re a founder or if you interview people, because these are questions that people should be asking you (and that you should have real answers to).
Cheers,
- Carter and Jordan
