THE PUNC REPORT - ISSUE 2 (JULY - IÚIL)

THE PUNC REPORT

As you probably know, the PUNC Report is a radio programme (Thursdays at 6pm on Near FM) as well as an occasional fanzine. There’s also a website (punc.neocities.org), a Mastodon account (https://mastodon.ie/@punc) and an Instagram account.

📻 SHOW NOTES | AN CHLÁR SEO CHUGAINN

I’ve been given the very nice opportunity to broadcast on DDR - - that’s right folks, Raidio Digiteach Dubh Linn have seen fit to let me take part in their Pride broadcasting block. “Queering the Air” is meant to celebrate 50 years of community protest in Ireland. I’ll be playing queer punk from Ireland and around the word for a programme called “Aiteach Aerach Puncach” on Thursday at 7pm. So tune in !!!!

At the time of writing, I still don’t know what songs I’m playing. Please e-mail me suggestions at punc@tuta.io.

Now, due to the above, this week’s episode of the PUNC Report is a pre-record. No guests - just me, a microphone and the Punk News. Lots of songs and lots of bands, including Problem Patterns, The Blades, The Undertones, Surge, Special Branch & Extravision. You can hear it all on Near FM at 6pm on Thursday…

As for next week? It’s a mystery to me… but soon I’ll be speaking to Rita Hynes (Drogheda Zine Fair, Underground Zine Archive) about an extremely exciting film screening taking place in Drogheda. Scroll down to find out more…

🪧 Notes

  • Congratulations are also due to Bands Boycott Barclays, who have successfully forced 4 major music festivals to refuse Barclays’ sponsorship. Download, Latitude, Bestival & the Isle of Wight festival have all ditched Barclays. Credit is due to all of the bands that boycotted the targeted festivals, including a number of Irish acts. For further information & updates, see @bandsboycottbarclays on Instagram or email them via bandsboycottbarclays@gmail.com.

  • Trans & Intersex Pride takes place in Dublin on July the 13th, organized by members of Socialist Feminist group ROSA. The march begins at 2pm from the Garden of Remembrance. The Dublin Union of Punks will be marching - look for the banner and join the punk bloc.
