THE PUNC REPORT - ISSUE 1 (JUNE | MEITHEAMH)
THE PUNC REPORT
Howdy, hi, haigh, hello……………… and welcome to what will hopefully be the first PUNC Report newsletter of many to come.
As you probably know, the PUNC Report is a radio programme (Thusrdays at 6pm on Near 90.3 FM) as well as an occasional fanzine. There’s also a website (punc.neocities.org), a Mastodon account (https://mastodon.ie/@punc) and an Instagram account.
Instagram have locked me out of my account (@punc_fm) because I don’t have a 2FA PIN. I have established a replacement account (@punc.fm) but I have lost my trust in Instagram, because Instagram are bastards. As such, I have decided to supplant/slowly replace my conventional social media with an email newsletter. And that’s what this is.

🥁 Bandmates Wanted:
Eli Borelli is looking for bandmates. Eli plays the bass and sings, & he has released some music under the name A Very Tired Guy (listen here). Eli said they’re only really looking for other transmasc people as bandmates at the moment, and I said that was probably illegal as discrimation on the basis of gender is prohibited under Irish employment law, and then Eli pointed out that as the band would probably not be making any money it was not in fact a job application. In any case, Eli also said that anyone with the “right vibe” would be seriously considered, regardless of gender. If you think that could be you, email me (punc@tuta.io, subject line “Eli Borelli”) and I will pass your messages on.
Scrum are currently looking for a guitarist. They say this guitarist must be comfortable “recording and performing live”. They say “No posers, no losers & no bigots”. If you’re interested, dm them on Instagram (@scrum__band).

🪧 Notes
Bands Boycott Barclays have one simple goal: get as many bands as possible to pull out from music festivals sponsored by BDS-busting bank Barclays, which invests in arms companies like Elbit Systems. Roughly 1/3rd of the acts playing “The Great Escape” festival in Brighton pulled out - one of the first to boycott were Derry pop-punkers CHERYM. Now BBB are organizing boycotts of Latitude and this weekend’s Download festival. Three Irish acts have already pulled out of Latitude - CMAT, Pillow Queens & THUMPER - while a number of punk & metal bands have decided to boycott Download. Bands Boycott Barclays are also calling for punters to join the boycott by staying away. For further information & updates, see @bandsboycottbarclays on Instagram or email them via bandsboycottbarclays@gmail.com.
