PTVM Men
Today is the commemoration of the Venerable and God-bearing Father Anthony the Great, the Father of monasticism.

Men's Patristic Reading Group
PTVM men recently began gathering monthly to read and discuss the Church Fathers (i.e., "Patristics"). Our next meeting will be on the evening of Thursday, February 1, 2024, after 6pm vespers, to discuss On the Incarnation by St. Athanasius. It isn't too late to join us!
I recommend the version of On the Incarnation in the "Popular Patristics" series (translated by Fr. John Behr), which is available directly from SVS Press at https://svspress.com/on-the-incarnation-english-only/ (it may be cheaper on Amazon and is also available on Kindle as an e-book).
You can also read it for free in a variety of locations online (albeit in a slightly more archaic English translation), including CCEL and New Advent.
There are also free audiobook readings on YouTube (examples: this and this). You can listen to the audiobook in approximately 2.5 hours.
Our next meeting will be to discuss On the Incarnation (you should read and/or listen to the book before this meeting). We will meet on the evening of Thursday, February 1, 2024, after vespers for the Meeting of our Lord in the Temple (also known as the Presentation, Candlemas, and Hypapante). Vespers is at 6pm.
In February, we will begin reading a selection from the Apostolic Fathers. The PTVM bookstore is ordering copies for those who previously expressed interest plus a couple extras. This work can also be found for free in numerous locations online (I'll include some links in a future update).
