Progger live and streaming from Monks Jazz
To say “it’s been a while” would be putting it lightly. I promise that I never intended to go this long without an update, let alone a live Progger show, but I swear the reasons* are good! More on those later. Most importantly, our first proper live show of 2024 – in fact, our first in just over two years! – is happening on June 19 at the fabulous Monks Jazz Club in Austin. Even better, the show will be live-streaming via Monks’ top-tier audio and video production. We’ll be unearthing some deep cuts from our early records, the likes of which haven’t been played in quite a while, as well as some new tunes by myself and Matt Muehling that we’re fleshing out in anticipation of our long-overdue fifth album.
I am so, so, so very excited to play this music again, and to share it with friends old and new. Tickets for in-person seating at Monks are HERE…
…While tickets for the livestream are available HERE.
*Now. As for those reasons I mentioned.
The world was forever changed by the Covid-19 pandemic, as much as we’d prefer to forget it, but the years that followed created opportunities for Progger-people that we never could have predicted. In reality, we got so busy working for other artists – some of them rather massive! – that we had to put our electro-funk-rock-jazz ambitions on pause for a bit. These artists range from big stars (Bruno Mars, Jon Batiste, Janelle Monae, the Supremes) and homegrown Austin heroes (Black Pumas, Adrian Quesada, JaRon Marshall, Jackie Venson) to internationally infamous comedians (the Kill Tony Show, Paul F. Thompkins). Additionally, some of us moved continents (again), some of us had kids (again), and all of us have kept juggling that wild, unpredictable, ever-challenging, ever-rewarding musician life.
As of this month, I consider Progger activities officially un-paused. We’re sitting on more than enough music for a new record and we’re itching to develop it and unleash it upon an unsuspecting world. To be sure, we’re still working with a big variety of wonderful people in the music world, and that won’t change. But I’m positively buzzing with anticipation to get back to playing the music I’m most excited about in the world.
See you at Monks, online or in person!
