Monks update: BDQ in place of Progger

A wee update for anyone who was planning on braving the rare Hill Country cold to come out to Monks or tune into the livestream this Wednesday: Sadly, one of our core guys is recovering from an injury that’s taking him away from being able to play for the next couple weeks, and the new stuff is, I’ll admit, a bit demanding, so it would be pretty brutal to fly in a ringer.

So instead I’ll be leading a quartet with some of my favorite musicians in the world, including my longtime collaborator and friend Bruce Saunders on guitar, James Suter on bass, and Michael Longoria on drums. We’ll be doing a fat stack of tunes by some of my favorite composers as well as some of mine. It won’t be Progger but it’ll be a damn good time.

Brian Donohoe Quartet performs at Monks Jazz in place of Progger this Wednesday, January 28, at 8:00pm, tickets for in-person seating and livestream at monksjazz.com!

We’ll get another Prog-Monks thing happening as soon as possible and wish our homey a swift recovery in the meantime!
