Princeton Comic Makers Weekly Roundup #47

Summary of the Last Meeting (2/16/2025)

🖋️In Short: MoCCA group visit is in the works. Anthology sign-ups have closed; the first check-in is April 9.

🖌️MoCCA meetup

MoCCA Arts Fest is this weekend, March 15-16 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in NYC. Chris is going! If anyone would like to join Chris for a casual group visit (meaning meeting for the train, maybe getting a meal together), keep your eyes peeled for updates — we will finalize plans this Wednesday.

💻Mike’s design-focused demo

Mike does design work professionally and has kindly offered to demo professional art programs such as InDesign, Photoshop, etc. To make this demo more helpful, please let Mike or an admin know what you want to hear! We haven’t yet decided a date, but once we do, we will announce it so anyone who wants to attend can plan for it.

🥚EGG-thology Reminders🥚

Halved boiled egg over a bowl of ramen.

Sign ups have closed; first check-in will be April 9, a full month away. Thank you to everyone who confirmed their participation… We look forward to seeing everyone’s creations! Please keep in mind the content and format guidelines:

  • 1-10 pages

  • Black-and-white

  • A5 dimensions

  • PG-13

We are also looking for title suggestions! We have quite a bit of time before we need to settle on something, so take your time and let those ideas cook.

Our rough schedule:

Apr 9 - 1st check-in (scripts, thumbnails) ⬅️
May 14 - 2nd check-in (lines)
Jun 11 - 3rd check-in (SOFT DEADLINE, tones/shading/lettering)
Jun 25 - All final artwork due (HARD DEADLINE)
Jul 23 - Layout 1st check-in
Aug 13 - Final layout due
Aug 20 - Start of promos and pre-orders

The final note about the anthology: once it is published, you are free to acquire and sell copies for yourselves. However, copies sold this way will be set at the same price for everyone to prevent undercutting.

📸Princeton Art Council’s Insta-Takeover

We will be recording snippets of our meetings for the Art Council’s Instagram. We will not film you if you do not want to be filmed. Additionally, if anyone is interested in doing the filming, feel free to speak up! This is a nice, low-stakes way of trying out videography.

👀Your projects!

Luke’s comic “Mars Lightning” is now live!

You can find it on Webtoon, Tapas, and GlobalComix.

Anita is exhibiting with the Hopewell Tour Des Arts!

Presented by The Healing Arts Steering Committee at Capital Health, this exhibition will be open until April 30. You can find it at the Investors Bank Art & Healing Gallery at Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell (address here).

🎸JetLAG Festival (Downsville, NY)

It’s an outdoor music festival/camping excursion in late June that also provides the opportunity to do outdoor installations! If this combination of activities appeals to you, please let Masha know your interest as soon as possible.

🛌Old links and reminders

Tomato pins

They are $10 for members, and the proceeds go directly towards our rent. You can also just donate to rent, sans pin. No pressure, of course, and thank you to everyone who already contributed!

Email and Discord links

For the new folks and anyone who was not receiving emails until recently, please click here to access the backlog of all our email blasts.

And as always, here is the Discord invite link. At first, you'll only see the "about-rules" channel; just enter the command written at the bottom of the guidelines to access to the rest of the server. If the link doesn't work, let us know and we'll send you another.
