Princeton Comic Makers Weekly Roundup #40

Summary of the Last Meeting (12/18/2024)

Thank you to everyone who brought in food and who participated in the Secret Santa! We also hope you all enjoy the goodie bags courtesy of Chris.

Regarding dates, PLEASE NOTE this correction: the Princeton Arts Council will be open next neither this upcoming week 12/25, nor the following week 1/1, so we will not reconvene until mid-January. Rest up, and expect a reminder email/Discord message when JAM sessions pick up again.

Year in review

We are hoping to do a year in review email before January. If you have any 2024 personal achievements, or if you participated in any PCM events, please share your anecdotes and pictures with us and we will include them in our next email. PCM events include any holiday parties, the Princeton Zine Fest, Plein Aire week, 24 Hour Comics Day, and the Final Boss Pop-Up Market.

You can submit stories and pictures by responding to this email or by DM-ing Chris, Masha, or Suyang on Discord.

Projects for Next Year

PCM group anthology, potentially

We’re considering making a group comics anthology in the new year. Not only is this type of thing a good way of seeing your work published, it’s also a good way of seeing the book-printing production process. If you have any ideas for themes or printing specifications (eg. color or b/w, riso printing, dimensions, foils, etc.), now is a good time to start brainstorming. We’ll continue discussing this project in the upcoming weeks, just keep this in the back of your minds for now.

Don’t forget about JetLAG Festival (Downsville, NY)!

It’s an outdoor music festival/camping excursion in late June that also provides the opportunity to do outdoor installations! Tickets go on sale around December or January, so if this combination of activities appeals to you, please let us know your interest as soon as possible.

Old links and reminders

Applications

If any of you are interested in flea markets generally, check out this website! It has listings for upcoming shows and fairs across New Jersey. Just double check that the theme of the show matches what you want to buy or sell.

Tomato pins

We also still have tomato enamel pins, which are $10 for members. The proceeds from these pins go directly to our rent. If you want to help with rent but don’t necessarily want a pin, you can also just give Chris the same amount of money. No pressure, of course, and thank you to everyone who already contributed!

Email and Discord links

For the new folks and anyone who was not receiving emails until recently, please click here to access the backlog of all our email blasts.

And as always, here is the Discord invite link. At first, you'll only see the "about-rules" channel; just enter the command written at the bottom of the guidelines to access to the rest of the server. If the link doesn't work, let us know and we'll send you another.
