Princeton Comic Makers Weekly Roundup #25
Summary of the Last Meeting (7/24/2024)
The tomato mascot enamel pin, which is being made as part of the Anime NYC Pinpalooza, has been shipped! We are waiting for the eta to update, but in the meantime THANK YOU to everyone who pre-ordered! Chris, Masha, and Suyang greatly appreciate your support, and we can’t wait to get them in your hands. If any of you would still like a tomato pin, they will be $12 at Anime NYC.
Additionally, two notes about the space that we use. As several of you have noticed, this group can occasionally be quite large. We are in conversation with the Arts Council about potentially moving from the Communiversity Room to the theater, which is significantly larger and also has better acoustics.
The other note is that we will not be meeting in the Communiversity Room on Wednesday, August 7. Another group already booked it prior to us, back when we were signing a new contract. We are currently workshopping ideas on alternate places or activities to meet up — if you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to respond to this email or in the Discord.
Finally, as this group grows larger, just a quick reminder that we are technically for ages 16+, and so we recommend exercising caution when discussing certain topics (eg. sex, drugs, alcohol, etc.) as well as minding with whom you are speaking to. If you see something you’re uncomfortable with, please do not be afraid to let an admin know; we want everyone to feel safe and welcome!
Shows and Events
Artworks Trenton is accepting submissions for their “Sequential” Art Show until Wednesday, July 31. You can submit up to 3 pieces for their juried show, which will run from October 22-November 23.
The Poppy Art Fair, which is a fundraiser for the Palestine Children Relief Fund, is happening Sunday, August 18 from 12:00-8:00, at the Heart of Art Studio in Hamilton, NJ.
Cool Things by You All!
Don’t forget about this cool Project Sekai Shiraishi Birthday Event in NYC (Josh will be participating)! It will be on July 27 (tomorrow!) from 12:00-5:00, at l’Milky Chinatown and Burger by Day (242 Grand St, NYC 10002). If you purchase a drink from l’Milky, you get a cupsleeve; if you purchase a burger or meal from Burger by Day, you get a postcard print. If you get both, you receive additional goodies!
Faraway Reminders
JetLAG Festival and 24-Hour Comic Day are in about a year. JetLAG Festival (Downsville, NY) of course includes music and camping, as well the opportunity to do installations! If you are looking for something fun to do in several seasons, consider checking this out!
24-Hour Comics Day will take place on Saturday, October 5. We are still open to location suggestions. Thank you to everyone who already suggested places!
