Princeton Comic Makers Weekly Roundup #20

Summary of the Last Meeting (6/19/2024)

The first book club meeting is this Wednesday, June 26! If you want to participate, please read the first 25 episodes of Griz Grobus by June 26. You can read it online here. There is also a print edition, if you prefer physical media. Taken from it’s description:

On a distant planet, a prying scribe, an overly sentimental constable, and a mayor resurrect a sleepy town’s long-defunct priest-bot. But “Father Stanley” is not what he seems. Meanwhile, in another universe, a hungry wizard accidentally sends a war-god into the body of a chicken... Story by Simon Roy and Jess Pollard, Art by Simon Roy, Colors by Sergey Nazarov! UPDATES EVERY TUESDAY!

For folks doing the Princeton Sketchbook Club, there will be in-person Members Only Sketch-Ins on June 26, July 24, August 21, and September 25. These are all Wednesdays, from 6:30-8:30.

All Princeton Sketchbook Club members are invited to this non-instructional Sketch-In, a chance to work on your books in a welcoming social setting.

Bring your book and favorite art-making tools to enjoy while chatting with your fellow Club members. Get inspired by other sketchers, the ACP gallery exhibitions, and our creative environment for the evening. BYO snackes/bevvies.

Also, we are interested in doing a 24-Hour Comics Day get-together on Saturday, October 5! We are looking for a venue to rent where we can host this, so please let us know if you have any recommendations!

Reminders

It’s summer! If any of you folks are interested in doing outdoor/plein air hangouts, feel free to shout out your interest. Notably, the Princeton University students will be leaving campus soon, so their campus will be prime real estate shortly…

Also, if you were interested, don’t forget about the Princeton Art Council’s Sketchbook Club! It’s $10 if you choose to pick it up in person, and the deadline to turn in the sketchbook is Friday, October 4. We’ll also be getting a copy for Comic Makers people to share.

Bonus

We want to highlight your works and projects in these emails! Anything — big or small, finished or unfinished — we will happily spotlight for you. Let us know in person, through Discord, or just respond to this email with any links, images, etc.

The usual links

For the new folks and anyone who was not receiving emails until recently, please click here to access the backlog of all our email blasts.

And as always, here is the Discord invite link. At first, you'll only see the "about-rules" channel; just enter the command written at the bottom of the guidelines to access to the rest of the server. If the link doesn't work, let us know and we'll send you another.
