Princeton Comic Makers Weekly Roundup #2
Summary of the Last Meeting (2/7/2024)
We first want to thank you all for your patience as we once again went over the general structure of each session. We won't talk this much each time! And we're pretty much done talking this much at the beginning each time! Since these are our first few meet ups, we anticipate seeing new faces often, and our ideas for how best to structure things shift as we discover what works and what doesn't. Now that things are settling, we won't need to give so many updates and reminders. (And if we do, feel free to start working on your stuff while we talk, truly no worries).
For future reference: We'll do quick intros at the beginning if there are new folks, do our art things, and then finish with a feedback/crit session around 8:30-9:00.
As for the crit sessions, we really appreciate how spirited the discussion was on how best to conduct them! As always, we encourage you all to let us know your thoughts so that we can best adapt to your needs. Anyways, it's important that feedback be relevant to the artist. With that in mind, if you are presenting work, feel free to state if you are looking for a specific type of crit. If you are providing feedback, please keep these things in mind:
What is the goal of the artist or work
How does the work attempt to achieve that goal
What does the work actually convey
These questions will help us contextualize the artwork, and they will help us better help each other!
Opportunities
The Princeton Public Library is hosting a zine fest!
PtonZF afternoon table application
For people who make zines and DIY-readables; all experience levels welcome

They are also looking for volunteer help:
We are looking for 2-3 volunteers to help run the Zine Making area from 1-4 pm. Perhaps there are creative types who do not have zines to exhibit, but would still like to take part and contribute. They could volunteer for an hour or all three.
Additionally, the same residencies from last week's email are still taking applications:

Highlights Foundation Working Retreat: Novelists and Graphic Novelists
Milanville, PA; May 19-22

Reminders
Same thing as last week: we're flexible, and we want to create a community that supports local artists, so we encourage you to share your thoughts with us.
Happy Lunar New Year!
