The tiny forget-me-not reminds us that even when memories fade, love remains. And sometimes our greatest blessings are the people we still have beside us.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and I've been thinking a lot about gratitude, but not just the easy kind. The kind that comes with laughter, and feeling blessed, but the kind that sometimes comes with tears and sadness.

The other day, I spent an afternoon with my 91-year-old dad while my mom, also 91, attended her women's group. (My mother is amazing, but that’s a subject for another blog).
