Museo, Stoic-AI, British Museum
Welcome to this first issue of Priam. Very happy to have you here. In this issue we have a preview of three resources that I will add to the website in the future.
- Museo
- Stoic-AI
- British Museum Blog: Top 10 historical board games
I plan to include three new items in each newsletter issue. Enjoy the resources.
Museo is a visual search engine that connects you to museums. Six museums are already added with many more to come. This is a fantastic resource built by Chase McCoy.
Great search options for classicists and ancient world enthusiasts
Try searching ancient Greece, ancient Rome, Athens, black-figured or red-figured vase, Iliad, etc. Let me have any particulalry effective searches as well please for future reference.
This is my search for amphora:
Stoic-AI is a game that challenges you to decide whether a quotation comes from a stoic philosopher or is computer-generated. Great for aspiring stoics and also for using in the classroom. I can see many applications here: try to get 10/10; write your own; research the philosophers featured, etc..
Try Stoic-AI if you like!
The quote in the example comes from a real philosopher, Seneca. See screenshot:
British Museum Blog: Top 10 historical board games
The British Museum maintains a fascinating blog and this example about ancient games is one of its most intriguing articles.
I hope you enjoy this preview of resources about the ancient world. Have fun exploring them!
Also don't forget to mine Priam itself for information and ideas. Priam, Ancient History Resources is a growing collection of resources about the ancient world. Texts, online magazines, databases, tools and communities are complemented by a section of highlights and a gallery with images from and about antiquity. Whether you are new to ancient history, seeking to deepen your knowledge or are an experienced ancient historian, there is plenty of material on Priam for you to explore.
