Hey everyone! First things first: our next special guest & vendor will be Kuroshiro Kawaii!
In their own words:
Kuroshiro Kawaii is a brand that wants to ensure that the entire community in the Houston, TX area has access to quality Japanese fashion. They pride themselves on having real connections to brand owners and designers, including Japanese, indie, and self-care brands.
Kuroshiro Kawaii is a name with multiple facets. When they were deciding on a name, they wanted one that would reflect the duality of the fashions they offer while at the same time being recognizable and inviting to the typical American in the area.
The “kuro” in their name stands for punk, gothic, and visual fashion; while “shiro” stands for elegant, princely, and sweet lolita and ouji fashions. It also reflects another duality that is important to the attitude of their shop: good and evil, angel and devil, order and chaos. The words “kuro” and “shiro,” and their associated meaning in kanji, really pin down what they wanted for the look and feel of their shop and the brands they want to carry.
“Kawaii” is a word commonly known and familiar to most Americans, and reflects a large portion of the styles they will carry: kawaii and Harajuku styles.
Collin has been a part of the Japanese fashion community for over 10 years, many of which he worked at local anime conventions to gain contacts with designers and models from many industries.
Kal has been a part of the fashion community since 2016 and is a professional portrait and fashion photographer. He has worked with many brands, designers, and models during his time as staff photographer for Oni-Con.
So exciting! And in case you missed it: the theme for Royal Vegas Retreat 2020 will be “Alice in Vegas”!
Alice falls down a rabbit hole - this time, into Las Vegas. Surrounded by unfamiliar sights and sounds, she sets out to explore, and finds mad hatters, white rabbits, games and cards, mysterious bottles, queens and kings, caterpillars chain-smoking over penny slots, strange grinning cats, and more…
Please note that you do not have to dress in accordance to the theme at Royal Vegas Retreat 2020 - only adhere to our dress code, described in our FAQ: https://prettyprincess.club/event/event-faq.html
However, we highly encourage you to draw inspiration from our theme, especially if you choose to enter one of our coordinate contests! Think outside the box, and consider any motifs that remind you of Alice in Wonderland or Las Vegas - the only limit is your imagination.
