Hi! Our next #RoyalVegasRetreat2021 vendor spotlight features Kittykaya! Read on to learn more about this cute brand.
Are you ready for the RVR 2021 Swap Meet? In addition to our vendors' room, we are proud to offer an alternative shopping option on Saturday, November 20 of the event. We will be hosting a swap meet, where attendees can sell their secondhand items to other attendees. The swap meet is free for all to attend. However, if you're interested in selling at the swap meet, we need you to reserve a table! Table reservations start September 6 at 12:00 PM PT on Eventbrite - please note that this is a different Eventbrite link than our main ticket sales! Table reservations cost $15. Thank you for your support, and please direct any questions to PPC staffer Ruthie!
A reminder that GA and VIP tickets as well as Partner Passes are still available if you would like to attend the event. Those who reserved their tickets in June should have received an email with instructions for paying the remaining cost. If you reserved your ticket, please pay the remainder using the code in the instructions by September 1st.
Please keep in mind that all RVR attendees must be fully vaccinated (i.e., it has been at least 2 weeks since your final dose of vaccine) and all attendees must wear a mask when not eating or drinking. We have worked with our venue to ensure we have plenty of space for all of our attendees to feel safe, and to accommodate all of the interest we have in our event.
We are looking for volunteers! Please see our volunteer page to sign up NOW! We will be reaching out to all volunteers by the end of the month to start coordinating, and we will continue to accept volunteers on a rolling basis until October 19.
Are you looking for travel buddies and roommates? People to twin with? A place to share your coord inspiration and flatlays? Join our new Facebook group!. There is a lightweight application process to help us keep out bots and spammers. We hope to see you there!
As a reminder, you can reserve your room onsite at the MGM Grand anytime before October 19 using our Passkey portal: https://book.passkey.com/go/sroy1121mg. Using our room block guarantees you a great rate as prices fluctuate, and it helps us keep our event financially viable!
What is the story behind your store/brand logo? My logo is a self portrait with a few of my favorite things. I’d like people to remember me from Artist Alleys and events.
What would your brand “elevator pitch” be? Comfy and cute clothing for anyone to enjoy.
How has your brand evolved since its inception? I first started with polymer clay phone charms. Unfortunately they no longer make loops for cell phones so naturally I turned to my other interests for inspiration. In 2018 one of my comm members lost their home and wardrobe in hurricane Micheal. We tried to gift them a dress for their birthday but I realized how limited plus size options were. Since I had all the skills necessary I started making lolita dresses in 2019, from the initial sketch to finished product. I love lolita and I want to share that feeling with as many people as I can.
What does a day in the studio look like for you? I usually have multiple projects going on at once so I first have to check my schedule on what I’m working on that day. As I’m waiting for materials to arrive I focus on different stages of another order. That could be a style consultation with a customer as we plan their custom print, sketch approvals, or finally sending fabric art to be printed. Between those I’m sewing and working on art merch.
What are your favourite materials to work with? I love working with cotton lace! Lately I’m feeling nostalgic with old school items that were popular when I first got into lolita.
What is your favourite item that you sell? My current favorite is my holographic Shop Window keychain. When you flip it you’re standing in the shop with the backside of the dresses showing.
What is the most popular item that you sell? My most popular dress is my Twinkle Seashore JSK based on my childhood trips to our local beaches. For my art merch it would be my “I am the occasion” lolita buttons. I get a lot of positive reactions since most lolitas can relate!
Who are some of your favourite designers? *For original Japanese brands I would say Innocent World for their wearability, Angelic Pretty for their print/design proportions, and Moi Meme Moitie for their iconic styling.
For indie brands Puvithel and Dollbe are so kind! I loved my interactions with them and I’m proud of their contributions to the western community.*
Where can people find you online? I’m most active on Instagram! My print catalog lists all my available designs and you can DM for custom print requests, custom sizing, and payment plan options. Check out my Etsy for my art merch and jewelry.
Call to action: tap into #StopLine3, the ongoing fight against the Line 3 Pipeline intended to bring tar sands from Alberta to Wisconsin, which will devastate the Indigenous (Anishinaabe) lands in its path. The movement to delay the new pipeline and decommission the old pipeline have been going on since 2016, with primarily Indigenous activists at the forefront. Sign the petition and continue to learn and support the movement.
